Plan a pumpkin carving party

First things first! Send a cute pumpkin carving invitation to all of your guests. If you’re planning a potluck-style party, this is also a good way to let them know who brings what dish. The week or weekend before Halloween is the perfect time so that you won’t have to worry about trick or treating scheduling conflicts.

Supply your own pumpkins

This helps so that the pumpkins for your carving party are all roughly around the same size, and they are easy to carve in the same amount of time. When picking pumpkins, choose pumpkins that are smooth firm and symmetrical.

Choose a mess-friendly location

Cover tables with newspaper or vinyl tale cloth for easy cleanup.  Check out these fun location ideas>>

Easy pumpkin carving tip

When carving with kids have them use their own drawings to create personalized templates. Tape the paper to the pumpkin, poke holes around the outline and remove. Now you have an outline to follow while carving.

Vote

Make simple voting ballots on your computer and let party-goers vote for the scariest, silliest and most creative.

Don’t forget dessert

A great dessert for a pumpkin carving party is caramel apple sundaes. Simple carve the apple into a bowl and add a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Add a drizzle of homemade caramel sauce and toasted walnuts.  See the step-by-step directions here>>
