Don’t forget the talk!

When my wife was recovering from her battle with breast cancer I made extra effort to talk with her and find out how she was feeling. I would listen to her with added focus trying to to pick up on what she was going through so I could make her as comfortable as possible. We were really connecting in the way we did early on in our marriage.

Now that she is feeling better, has returned to school to get her nursing degree, can attend to all of the kids activities and homework again we have settled back into our normal parenting routine. It’s a kiss in the morning and a kiss goodnight over and over again. I find it harder to make time to just sit down and talk. It takes work to establish good communication channels and keep them open year round…but it’s worth working for.
It is important to make time for each other in sickness and in health!
