Mega Cool Mama is run by Angela Concha who, just as her blog name states, is one Mega Cool Mama. As a Spanish teacher, active blogger, author, and mother of three, her dedication to her family is evident in her fun posts on cooking, playing, and crafting—all for the kids of course!
“I put a lot of effort into ensuring that all of the activities, recipes, and recommendations I make are personal ones that I have tried and evaluated first,” Angela says. “I put my heart and soul into creating only the best healthy dishes that will nourish my family, and all of my ideas for activities and resources come from wanting the best educational and authentic experiences for my children.”
One of these resources that Angela draws from is actual research. For example, her posts on homemade baby food came after she started reading up on its health benefits for babies.
“Having the baby eat what we do makes so much sense,” says Angela. “And this way, he is exposed to a variety of different flavors and textures, therefore preparing him to be more accepting of new foods in the future. Also, making my own baby food is cheaper in the long run!”
She creates her own recipes or tweaks ones she finds, modifying them to fit her philosophy of using organic ingredients, whole grains, and foods as close to their natural state as possible. Some of her creations include:
- Quinoa Banana Pudding
- Easy Cinnamon Apples
Along with her kitchen creations, Angela also posts crafts and family activities. As a teacher, she understands the importance of educational opportunities. As a mother, she understands the importance of spending quality time with her children. Both attributes lead to her activities being, fun, family involved, and educational.
She says that, “setting aside time to do something with your children speaks volumes to them. Whether it be crafting, reading, playing a game, taking a walk, or having a dance party, your child feels valued.”
So despite the busy schedule of teaching Spanish, grading papers, finding new topics to blog on, testing out new recipes, writing a children’s book (that will be available in both English and Spanish), and raising three children with her husband, Angela knows what comes first.
“As a working mother, it is so important to me that my children know that I love and value them, and that my work is important, but they are my número uno."
Here are some fun activities she’s done with her family:
- Cold Day Indoor Activities
- Create a Reading Niche for Your Kids
- Road Trip Bingo
Family fun, new recipes (kid tested and approved), parenting tips, and updates on Angela’s writing can all be found on Mega Cool Mama. While her goal is to make sure her family is happy and healthy, she posts her insights to help other families with the same goal.
“I share what I do with the hope that others will find something to help in the nourishment and growth of their own families.”
